Idle drops below 1000rpm then sometimes the car will make this screeching sound.
It made it when i started it up and it did it when the idle dropped below 1000. I just changed the oil and coolant and they are at there recommend levels. My dad said my water pump could be going or i could have water on the belts. If it was water on the belts it wouldnt do it every time i started the car or when the idle dropped. Any suggestions as to what it might be?

I didn't think the water pump made a screeching sound. When I had mine go out, I noticed it because water went everywhere. No sounds. Any chance a belt could be just not tightened enough? Like if you shut your a/c off does it still make the noise? If you can't find it what I usually do is get a hose that's like 5/8 or something, and hold it up to my ear and poke the other end down in the engine and you can hear where the sound is coming from.

The timing belt is not super tight, there is a little slack in it. There's supposed to be some slack right?

Sounds like your power steering belt...Check that, you might what to get a new one. It sounds like it's dry rotted, and about to go...

timing belt isn't gonna be squealing..it's got teeth in it so it cant. If it squeals, be ready to cough up some cash.

IF u have POWER streeing then u might have to check that. same problem happen to me when i had power streeing.

might be your a/c belt too, since you said your idle is dropping, thats probably the compressor kicking on, then the belt drags for a second
