Default changed water pump and messe with timming...IDLE and lowd clacking sound.

hey guys i recently changed my water pump and when i was done i put my timing belt on and it was properly timed. cause my tensioner wasn't hooked up right.

now when i turn the car on after sitting and cooling down it goes from 2000 to 0 RPM's. and its is at Zero it makes a nasty metal to metal sounding clash sound...BUT it only does it when i freshly tun the car on. after it is on and going. it idles a little bit. and it does not make that sound any longer after warmed up.

should i stop driving the car until i get a expert to look at it or is it fine to drive the 3/4 of a mile daily.

is this something i can fix my self??

Well, I"m just taking a shot in the dark but I'm thinking whenever you hear metal to metal, it's not OK to drive your car. Get it checked out unless you are moneybags and can just afford to replace your engine after a catastrophic failure...

seems like something is too tight at cold start up and stretches out once its warm - as for the metal sound...dont know. take it to a mechanic before something bad (or worse) happens

id it coming from the head or the bottom end.

if head id check rockers
if bottom end id take it apart and see if some bearings are gone

It may be just a valve tick...or you may have bent one (or more) of the valves.
