any motor can be turboed, it the tuning that will dictate its life and how well it runs. A lot of people love to turbo integra LS motors, they say its perfect for a turbo.

get a Y8 or Z6 head...but I'm not sure if those are interchangable with the Y7, heard some weird things about compatibility issues 'round here so not positive, if u can swap the heads I'd recommend a Z6 head because I hear it flows better (I've driven both a stock D16Y8 anda D16Z6 and haven't felt a difference but I've never gotten it dynoed to know for sure) - If you can't go with a different head I would go with the Z6 because it's ODBI therefore is easier to tune and has less problems (in my opinion), but whichever you want is ur choice, either is a good SOHC engine to turbocharge..

And unless you want to extend the rev limit you really only need upgraded rods/pistons to run 10lbs or so as a daily driver without the chance of u throwing a rod because you put it to 6500 RPM's... - From there it depends.. If you're going for over 200whp (I think that's the #) you have to replace your injectors - either way I'd recommend getting a fuel management system with a wideband O2 and a A/F ratio guage and chipping an ECU and running crome or another tuning program on it because it's really important that a turbo build gets tuned

if the current motor is healthy, get a vtec head, aftermarket headstuds and perhaps a thicker headgasket, because i think the mini-me compression is between 9.6 and 9.8:1

I would pick up a Y8 head, chipped P28, and OBD-2 to OBD-1 conversion harness.

The Y8 head is optional, it just gives you mad tight VTEC, yo! The conversion harness & chipped P28 allows you to tune the motor when you do turbo it.

To answer your question: Yes, you can turbo the motor that's in your car right now.
---
As far as the pistons/rods: They're not really neccessary until the 240-250whp range.

I never dyno'd my car, but I compared my 1/4 times with another guy and I assume I was making roughly 240whp semi-tuned to 15psi.

My rings eventually started to go after 240,000 miles.

agreed! No need for the y8 or z6 head but it will give you a few extra ponies and that wonderful sound of the vtec kickin in, hope you decide to swap the head!

Your engine is fine for turbo on a D16 there really isn't that much of a difference if it's vtec or not.....the only thing I suggest doing is doing a manifold swap to a Y8 manifold... Just piece up your turbo get it tuned on crome or uberdata and its good to go!

don't waste your money on a vtec head
use that to piece your kit together

I pretty much laid it down for him plain and simple....any single cam will make the same power as long its MPFI thats why i told him to convert the y7 manifold to y8 manifold....

oh and another thing the y8 manifold would it be different to install cause the d16 y7 has the direct output intake manifold and the throttle is put on diff so how about that part

I would poke around http://www.turbod16.com . Some heads swear up and down with the y7 over the y8 and others swear by the z6 over any of the d series...fact is, d series love boost.

The advantage of the y8 or z6 head is you do get vtec which does open the valves more so you do get more power, you also get higher compression so that helps in the aspect of power but be weary as too high of compression + turbo = boom. Save your money and go with a chipped/tuned type of program and don't dick around with the fmu or missing link, yea it works but you'll have a lot more success NTM better gas mileage and engine longevity going with a tuneable program like uberdata, crome, etc.

lol, that isn't saying much. 700whp Supra = 275whp civic.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by ek4ferrio &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">what is an fmu btw oh so any d series would be would it be good to change the intake manifold instead of the stock y7 one </TD></TR></TABLE>

A FMU is a "fuel management unit". It raises your fuel pressure based on boost.

The best intake manifold would be the Y8. Supposedly they flow better than any other D series manifold.

For less than 200whp you won't need a big turbo. A T25 would do that.

Just remember that boost is addicting. You'll get that 180whp and then you'll want more. Eventually that 7lbs turns into 15lbs daily and you're making about 245whp, then your rings are gone and your head is warped because you've got a 245whp civic with over 240k miles on the stock motor.

whatever u do, dont go with fmu tho man. just spend the extra and get it tuned by someone legit, i got a full tune with my stock z6 and a precision sc61 and made 230whp@8.2psi, and its running healthy as ****

i got my **** tuned, plus a new dumptube made cuz i 4got to bring mine for $347
