so i've been driving this car for almost a year now. and i have a suspicion that i have a bent frame. what's the best way to determine if i have a bent frame? i checked my front rotors today and the passenger's side was warped--the driver's side was smooth. keep in mind that i changed both my rotors 8 months ago. then a few months ago, i discovered that my trunk surface looks pushed inwards...like it's been in a rear-end collision. im about to check my tires for uneven wear tomorrow. what do u guys think?

 

did u service the caliper sliders when the rotors were changed?

 

sure did...the pads are brand new too.

What do you mean by warped and smooth for the rotor? Do you mean grooved? A bent frame would not cause that.

 

how is your alignment check?

 

Lowered?? Alignment and some more specs probably.

well i got the full set of tokico shocks and springs (lowered 1 inch) for a couple months but i dont think that would affect anything. alignment was done not too long ago.

warped meaning the rotor is not a smooth even surface, u know...the car shakes when u brake hard...theres also grooves. but the driver's side has no problems except for a metal tapping sound. dont ask me why it taps...i dunno. it goes away when i apply the brakes. my car is weird...maybe i should get rid of it and get another DA.

Have you checked the runout on your rotors? Were the hub faces and rotors free of debris and corrosion when you mounted the rotors, which can lead to runout? The tapping sound on the drivers side definitly sounds like runout.

Runout is commonly misinterpreted ar warped rotors. If a rotor has runout, it will wobble back and forth as the wheel rotates.

This picture demonstrates runout:


If that rotor were to rotate, it would alternately contact each side of the caliper resulting in noise when the brakes are not applied. The runout can be caused by a defective rotor or a hub mating surface that is not free of corrosion or debris.

 

go to a frame shop bdody shop they can put it on a machine and see look thoughout the car see for anything that doesnt look oe and btw older calipersa will still cause uneven rotor wear even if u greese the slide pins

 

you know, i have a feeling it's my calipers too. but i'm not entirely sure...
