Default rotor question

On my car I have a slotted rotors in the front (the ones with the lines not the holes) but when I brake sometimes the steering-wheel shakes so I thought that it was my tires and they needed to be balanced but i just got them balanced not too long ago. So a friend of mine told me that my rotors were warped and I should get them resurfaced but can slotted rotors be resurfaced? Thanks

as far as i know they cant be resurfaced(slotted rotors), but even if they can when rotors are so warped that the car shakes they are usually too far gone - resurfacing is usually done on thicker one piece rotors, and only to take the gloss away so that they dont sqeak - what you can do is take them to your local auto parts store and have the put them on the resurfacing machine and tell you if theyre warped or not - if they are its time for new ones

About how much would it cost to have them resurfaced

just buy lifetime warranty rotors from pep boys or autozone. your rotors are warped, no doubt about it. no you can't resurface slotted rotors. when they resurface rotors, there's a pin/needle that shaves off fractions of an inch off your rotor to make it perfectly flat while the rotor spins. i got lifetime warranty rotors from pep boys for 24 bucks a piece.. i get to beat on them all i want, and whenever they warp theyll just give me new ones for free

doesn't autozone also have lifetime warranty pads??
