Default Propeller Shaft Install Help!

I'm working on popping in the propeller shaft (driveshaft between trans and diff) but I just don't seem to have the right bolts and it's really starting to aggrivate me.

I see on the Honda site that my MY00 takes M8 bolts with a 1.25 pitch; in the rear, thats fine. But where it bolts to the trans I have trouble. The hole on the driveshaft is about right for the bolts and equal to the rear as far as diameter goes, but for whatever reason, the bolts on the trans for the shaft at M10s @ 1.25 pitch (I check this just now using a bolt). What gives? The trans is not out of the car, and is stamped '99.

Can someone please help me out here.

They should be the same on either end. The yoke flange on the tranny and the diff both take 8x1.25 i believe. Maybe they swapped that flange?

Is this a part you can swap pretty readily? God, that'd be such a morale killer, but I know for certain that it is NOT 8x1.25 but rather is 10x1.25. Why would they swap it and how can I fix it?

If it's 10x1.25, then they should both be that size. These are the 6mm block hex bolts?

The flange is not swapped/taken off unless disassembly of the tranny/diff is required. Service manual calls for some special tool and a flange puller. Did you try threading a bolt through each side and see if the threads are the same? Any of them stripped?

The driveshaft did not come in companion with the transmission. The car kind of came in peices, ie motor/trans/driveshaft/diff all different.

The only thing that will thread into the flange is a 10x1.25 and thats too large for the driveshaft. Ugh!! So it looks like I'm SOL on making this thing work huh?

You'd have to pick up an 04+ driveshaft. They use larger 8mm gold hex bolts. Either that or precision-bore out the holes for the larger bolts. Good luck.
