I took off my 96 Accord bumper to put on a BW rear piece, I saw a white piece made of foam, what the heck is that? Do I really need that? It's hella hard to put on the bumper back with that thing between the bumper and the car. Thanks

...And late tonight on channel 5 news this Johnson County man attests his life to this little band of foam. The man claims the small inch wide foam band protected him from a head on collision with a high speed train. Eye witness's say the foam piece fought hard against the train and eventually derailed it .....

Isn't the foam just there so if you get lightly bumped the bumper wont get deformed? A little tiny cusion for those morons that back into your car when it's parallel parked?

 

that's what i thought too...i think it serves some purpose or another!
