Default just got my deck stolen - need advice

well just got my deck stolen.

i need to get a new alarm. need advice for something around 200-300 installed in the bay area. the current alarm i got with the car is an "enforcer?"

also getting a new deck and wondering if its possible or a good idea to mount the deck in the glove compartment? if i could just get it bolted and zip tied in the dash well. the deck was installed at a circuit city.

Get a Viper 300/350. I will IM you. You can use a metal radio strap to secure your head unit in your dash. Makes it much more difficult for a thief thats trying to rip it out.

Any brand name alarm from an authorized dealer, [so you get full warranty] will do the job, I would look at the smaller "mom & pop" type shops, better chance of getting a better install.

The glove box is not a good idea, just get a HU with removable face, [and remove it and don't leave it in the car] and as SiRGDC said, use a metal back strap, [one end to rear of HU other end to chassis ground] harder for crooks to steal, better rear support and better HU ground. 94

In addition to the metal strap, zip ties work wonders. They saved my bro's Aiwa deck from getting stolen.

You would have to reach over and open the glove box everytime you want to change the CD. And if you do that while you are driving you increase your chances of getting into an accident.

why not?</TD></TR></TABLE> As stated by SiRGDC can be a PITA for access, and would need custom bracketing to make it solid, [has to be solid to keep from skipping].

Not saying it can't be done, [have done more then a few HUs in the glove box] just a PITA to install and access.
