Default VAFC2 problems

I know, I know, everyone on here thinks these things are garbage, but if you can help, I'd appreciate it. I just got one of these and installed it today. I have a problem though, can't seem to have the manifold pressure wires (yellow and white on the VAFC harness) hooked up with the vehicle harness without the engine running like crap and throwing a CEL. I checked and rechecked all the wiring, it all appears to be ok. As soon as I disconnect the yellow and white wires and just reconnect the factory MAP sensor wires as they are in stock form, the engine runs fine. Any ideas? Also, I should mention that I'm not really planning to tune the air/fuel ratios too much, I just basically want to use this thing as a VTEC controller. Which brings up another question, with the VAFC2, there is a VTEC unmatch setting where you can add fuel for an earlier VTEC engagement, so you don't run lean. Will this still add fuel even without the MAP sensor signal going to the VAFC? I want to get this thing figured out as soon as I can, thanks in advance for any help.

Oh, forgot to mention, I'm running a '93 Civic Si with a JDM B18C swap, and a chipped Civic Type-R ECU with OBD2-OBD1 conversion harness.

Ok, got the wiring thing figured out. I was tapped into the wrong wire. Anyways, now that I got the MAP sensor signal connected, I have a misfire, mostly at idle and decel. I have the sensor number setting at 6 in 6 out, does this make a difference? Any ideas? That whole sensor number thing doesn't make sense to me, cause I have everything except TDC and VTC connected, which makes 5 inputs and 2 outputs for the VAFC. Should I set it to 5 in 2 out then?

Also, I think I should mention that I only plan to use this thing as a VTEC controller. I don't want to risk blowing up my engine just to gain 3 hp by tuning the air fuel ratios. So do I even need the MAP sensor signals hooked up? It ran fine, same as always, before I hooked the VAFC into the MAP sensor signals. Any advice someone can offer me would be appreciated. I know at least one person has to know something about these things in all of honda tech!
