im not really sure what is wrong with it. In the year i have owned it i have never run out of gas but have been on E many times, like right on the bar and the light has never came on, well last night i was driving home a little bit over E and it came on for like a few seconds then shut off, it kinda flashed like someone was touchin two wires together. Has anyone else had trouble like this, is there a sensor in the tank that goes bad or what. I didnt even know what color the light was until last night
same thing happens to me, ive ran outa gas once. it was on the i-10 me and my friends were pwning all and then i looked down and it was under E with a solid gas light. this has never happened when the guage needle is covoring the E line. only when under. i have no idea why this is.
the gas light comes on when you are running on your reserve fuel, which is a tiny bit in the tank and all the fuel in the lines, filter, rail and fuel return line
the integra's have a 2.5 gallon reserve

so when the light comes on i got around that much to go, is that the same on all the integras, thanks i did not know that
but when its on empty and i put in 3 gallons it goes up to a little over 1/4 of a tank, so i really have 5.5 gallons left?

in realitly yes, but the reserve is the last resort for gas and is supposed to get you only 60 miles
besides, running the fuel pump in and empty tank is very bad for it because the fuel pump is submerged in gas to keep it cool

Is it really covered in gas? when I swapped out mine it didn't seem like there was enough gas in the tank to cover the pump. Had about 1/4 tank left.

The smart engineers at Honda/Acura designed the car so the fuel-light comes on when you have about 2.5 gallons left (as someone previously mentioned) and it usually doesn't come on until the needle is at or below the E marking. So by all means when the light comes on it doesn't mean your screwed and your out of gas, you should figure you have about 30-50 miles to get to a gas station. Therefore, I don't think there are any problems with your fuel light (it probably went on and off temporarily because when driving up and down inclines the fuel sloshes towards and away from the fuel sender) and if you continue to drive a couple of miles after the the needle gets low I'm willing to bet your light will come on and stay on.
And as far as I know, most Hondas/Acuras are designed so the light comes on when you still have a reasonable amount of gas left to get to a gas station. Any owners manuel should tell you how many gallons are left when the light comes on.
