FITV repair (does coolant system need to be bled afterwards?)
Was attempting to look at my FITV to see if it needs to be adjusted and a bit of coolant leaked out. I did not completely remove the valve, but do I need to bleed the coolant system now?
im sure you will be fine, as long a an asstone didn't leak out then no need to add or bleed. i don't know what all these people talk about bleading coolant systems anyway// everytime i build or start a new motor i just run it and then top off the coolant after the first cooldown.
bleeding the coolant lets the air out of the system at its highest point to completely remove and air from the system so it flows through all parts of with system well, its usually not a problem, but if you ever have cooling problems i would recommend it
thanks for the replies guys....have a newly rebuilt engine that I am trying to baby during the break in process. only 576 miles on her so far and runs like a champ. Idles high, but have not tried the FITV fix yet. I am going to wait until this weekend and try the fix that way I can bleed the system when I am done just to be safe. I am at work and just did not want to drive if I needed to bleed the system. Car seemed fine on the way home and back.
