Bleeding coolant
hey guys... is bleeding the air out when I change the coolant necessary? I never really heard anyone do it before. I got a 4g si... do anyone know how to actually bleed the system? thanks in advance.
Yes you need to do it.
Air in the cooling system reduces its efficiency.
There is a bleeder screw on top of the thermostat housing.
1. While the engine is cold, open the screw and coolant will flow out of the hole in the top of the screw.
2. When the coolant comes out in a steady geyser, close the screw. This should take a matter of seconds.
3. Top off the reservior.
