Default Changing the Civic center console

How hard would it be to take a center console from a 99-00 Civic and place it in a 96 Civic. I understand the 96 has cable driven ac controls and the 99-00 does not. How much work would it be to make the conversion?

I'm not sure that the holes would line up. It would look retarded with an EG dash. Why not just fork out $100 for a brand new JDM console on eBay. They are really worth the money.

I believe the JDM model has the opening for the double din radio. That is exactly what I am going for.
