Default Universal or direct fit

Alrgiht my lude has a full exhaust system with an n1 style muffler by magnaflow performance, but I am really tired of the raspy sound so. I already installed a resonator to get rid of the rasp, but it didn't remove it all. So my question is do you guys think it will make a difference if I buy the apexi ws II universal over the direct fit catback exhaust? Also is a 60mm inlet equivalent to 2.25 inch piping?

60mm is closer to 2.5" i think. i am having an exhaust made for my car using a 60mm muffler and the shop will be using 2.5" pipe.

a universal muffler will be fine. SOME aftermarket exhausts are all the same muffler and resonator anyways, they just put different pipe and hangers on for each vehicle.

^^ I was about to say that... 60mm is 2.36 & that I don't agree with anything he (BB6) said...

You can do that 60mm muffler & 2.5" it'll just bottleneck at the end.. I don't know how much of a problem or restriction that'll cause, if it's even noticeable at all..

How can you say "most aftermarket exhausts are all the same muffler and resonator anyways, they just put different pipe and hangers on for each vehicle???"

So, Apexi, GReddy, Tanabe, Magnaflow... plenty others all use the same mufflers and resonators?? I don't agree in my opinion, but I haven't "looked," "inspected," & "compared" every exhaust out there.

i have looked at civic, integra, and accord greddy exhausts and the muffler and resonator all looked the same to me, just different pipe and hangers. i don't know about apexi, so i can't speak for them.

and i'm sorry i didn't know that 60mm is closer to 2.25". my bad.

oh, and all those xhausts i mentioned above sound exactly the same! not a real noticable change in tone or dBs at all...

you must not know anything about exhaust system then, why would big companies like apexi, mugen, greddy, and hytech for instance, costs alot more than generic mufflers and brands? its because of the quality of the materials and the welding.

lol, Yeeeeaaahh... Of course GReddy makes the "same" exhaust/muffler for each car with different hangers & pipe diameters.. That's a given.. But GReddy doesn't make all aftermarket exhaust/mufflers, so not all "aftermarket" exhaust/mufflers are the same..
GReddy, Apexi, and others also make different style mufflers also, so they can't be the same.

^^That's no problem.. I know because I've read it before.

^^ Same here.. If all the exhausts were from GReddy, they'll be about the same as yes, they're using the same muffler for each car, with the different pipes/hangers. So then the difference would be the length of the pipe, and over all the engine the exhaust is on, that will change the sound/pitch.

Alright thanks for the input, so as far as the sound goes. Would the best quality come from buying the hole cat-back with the resonator or can I use the set up I got and just buy a universal ?
