Just went to Autozone the other day to buy some AC refill for my 92 civic. I bought the 134A type...went home...tried it. But the nozzle on the can seems to big for my civic. The air is escaping. I've searched for a bit and somebody said that I would need the R12 type refrigent for 92-93s and 134As are for 94+ and up. Can somebody help clarify this. And by the way which valve on the AC is it? The top one or the bottom one? Thanks.
that is correct you will need to buy a retrofit kit so that you can use the 134A. It will convert the R12 to the 134A they sell them at Kragen also
the other thing is that you need to have the system flushed( the old r12 removed and the system tested for leaks). Once everything is ready then you can refill the system. However I highly recommend having this type of thing done by a shop that services ac systems

He was using R12. Cars manufactured before 1994 had R12...the poster bought 134a. He's going to have to use R12 or get the conversion kit for 134a.
