Get the harness that comes with them. That's the EASIEST way.

remove the wireharness from your 88-89 taillights and install those into the 90-91 taillights or vise-versa

You need to use the 90-91 harness and only use 3 bulbs. The 88-89 have 3 holes (1 reverse, 1 brake and 1 turn signal) for lights and the 90-91 have 4 holes
(1 reverse, 2 brake and 1 turn signal).

Yes...

Have you ever changed a tail light bulb? If yes, then the wires that you pull out of the tail light housing are part of the tail light wire harness.

This harness unplugs from the main harness.

It is VERY VERY simple...

1) Get the new tail lights
2) Take off your old tail lights
3) Remove the harness/bulbs from the new and old lights
4) Put the old harness/nulbs on the new tail lights

Um.... when I put 91 tails on my CRX I used the 88 harness and just attached the bulbs in place. There was no modification necessary. I just took out the old tails, put the new ones in and everything was fine.

Ive been rocking my tails since 2000 and had no problems. I dont know what the discussion is about. Put them on, plug the bulbs in. Test it out. Go driving.

Im am right. The 90-91 Civic Tails are not the same on the inside as the 88-89 ones. But the CRX ones are.

you guys dont need to cut anything, just pop the pins out of the little plastic connector with something sharp like a nail. Then pop those pins into the matching plastic connector and you should be good to go. Or you can do like i did, i did not have matching plastic connectors so i popped all pins out and then matched colored wires and taped them together, no cutting or soldering needed.

I'm confused, seems like some are talking about a Civic and some are talking about a CRX, is that what is going on? I don't have the problem but a definate answer would be nice for future reference. I have an89 CRX and a 91 Hatch, who knows what I might try to swap between the two, and I'M sure correct answers will help MANY Honda lovers. Don't make me take my cars apart to find the answer, someone has done this so give them the answer.
