Default ALMOST GOT RIPPED OFF !!!!!!

Alright guys check this story out, it's kinda long but it's worth the read...

I was @ a local shop the other day, when one of the "faster guys" from around town tell's me about a turbo kit he is plaing to sell. I've know him for a while, and have been wanting to upgrade my ITR-T setup so I figured hey, I'll check it out. He's always been known as a guy who's had fast cars, we know each other, I should get a good deal and it's probably a good quality kit right?

So we go check it out, and it turn's out to look like real quality parts ie: nice welds, clean, no oil marks, no turbine play, just has a few scratch's here and there like a normal street car would (mostly the I/C). He tell's me it's a Neukin Turbo Kit, and thier hard to find and I believed him. I've never heard of them so I started to read about them.

Well go to find out, this kit he had raced on and he told me he didn't that it was just a few 100 miles over break in. I thought ok, that's fine a lil' price drop would make me happy.. Meanwhile in my quest for knowlage of this brand of turbo I find this out.

New Neukin Turbo Kit -

- SC61 BB Turbo (BB Turbo + $125)
- Neukin Egual Length Tube Mani.
- Neukin 3'' 4 Bold Downpipe w/ Extra O2 Bung & Flex Pipe (Extra O2 + $20)
- Neukin Dumptube (Dumptube + $70)
- Neukin 2.75'' I/C Piping & Coupling's
- Tial 50mm BOV
- Tial 38mm Wastegate
- Precision 31.5 x 10.25 x 3.5 Intercooler ( 750HP I/C + $230)
- Precision 1000cc Injectors ( Injectors + $20)
- Neukin Feed/Return Lines
- Neukin Oversized Vacume Lines

-Total for Base Turbo Kit - $2750.00
-With "The Best" Extra's - $3215.00

Steve's Neukin Turbo Kit -

- SC61 BB Turbo (Used & Raced on)
- Neukin Equal Length Tube Mani. (Used w/ no Neukin Stamp)
- Neukin Dumptube (Used but looked good)
- Tial 38mm Wastegate
- Tial 50mm BOV
- Precision 26.75 x 6.2 x 3.5 11 I/C (Used w/ Dents.)
- Neukin I/C Piping 2 1/2'' (was told it was 3'')

- What needs fixing/bought new -

- No 1000cc Injectors
- No New Feed/Retrun Lines
- No New Vacume lines
- Would have to re-fab the I/C pipes to fit a DC2 from a EG
- Would need new I/C Couplings after the fabrication
- I/C is 300HP not 750+HP Rated

-Total of Steve's USED kit - $2500.00

So he was cool enough to give me $250.00 off a "BRAND NEW USED KIT".. And all I had to do was spend 3 times more then that on new Couplings, Injectors, Fabrication, Feed/Return lines, Vacume lines, and finally a turbo rebuild being all this stuff was raced on.

But why when I can spend $590.00 more and get a NEW KIT and BETTER parts why wouldn I? This guy even had the ball's to get an attitude like I was RIPPING HIM off? WTF!! I asked him if he would buy his kit if he was in the same situation and he seriously looked @ me like my girlfriend does and walked away.

Just goes to show BE CAREFUL, even people you think you know will jack your @$$ no question's asked... Big thanks to Honda-Tech for helpin' me with my learning journeys, and BIG BIG thanks to "The Reid" for the insight on Neukin Turbo's

Thanks for the time

Hey, it is like trying to buy a pre-own car, with few thousands more, nothing beats a new car.

it's just as well you were able & had the good sence to check things out before you parted with your hard earned cash.
unlike myself who took someones word (h/t user) on a power fc for itr & when it arrived it was for B16b

i'd be worried about this fells's alterior motives, maybe there was more to the deal

LMAO @ Motives!!

Maybe so, but he's kinda too round for me.. I've learned from alot of my buddies experiance's to check into things, read up when you don't know, ask when you are confused. The fallow your gut rule deffinately applied here..

Good thing you didn't get ripped off....although I wouldn't call that exactly ripped off. Ripped off means that you paid $2500 and nothing was even salvageable, or you got nothing back.

Although I sell online I personally would never buy from anyone on here unless I was able to pick it up or they had badass reputation. I've only bought things on here about 5 times but I was ripped off twice ( rear B-series tranny mount was bent from an accident and I got a p30 ac bracket when I specifically asked for a P54 )

I wouldn't call that ripped off either - just someone selling used stuff for high price.

Buyer beware!

so cuz you didnt want to give him what he asked, and he wasnt going for it, didnt want to argue with you and walked away. your girl does it to you too, cuz she prolly knows there isnt any way to express herself without hurting your feelings so she also walks away.
