you probably won't be able to get your money back though. maybe you can salvage some parts.

If he used the POST OFFICE to mail it then yes, it's a federal offense.. however if he used UPS, that's not a gov't run operation.. and i dont think federal express is either... but i could be wrong..

Man, didnt that guy supply any pictures of the kit when you were negotiating? That stuff looks like ***. But you know, with a little work you could make it look half way decent. you can buy the little light bulb holders for the gauges. the fins on the intercooler can be straightened to near perfection with two flat blade screwdrivers. You have to do each fin one at a time but it takes like 30 minutes to do the whole thing if you just sit down and do it. The piping can be repainted, even coated. As for the stuff that's crush bent, try to find someone to make you a few new pieces of piping for cheap. The downpipe can be salvaged. Again you'll have to fine someone that can weld for you. But if you buy a 3 inch U-bend for around $15 you can cut that top bend off and replace it and use the left over to replace the parts that are all dented. Vacuum lines are cheap so dont trip on that. that looks like a nice wastegate, the old HKS racing bypass is good, and the FMU looks ok. It's still messed up but if you cant get your money back you can make a decent kit out of all those parts. BTW, did you buy that from someone off of Honda-Tech?

I know the kit looks like **** but as long as the turbine isn't shot don't complain too much. This person probably isn't going to give all of of your money back so DEMAND that you get atleast half of your money back and keep the kit. Vaccuum lines and silicone couplers are nothing to whine about. As long as the IC doesn't leak it is good. Just use a small screw driver to clean up the fins, THIS IS A LONG AND TEDIOUS PROCESS! A lot of kits use mandrel bent steel tubing so just clean up the piping and repaint it. Like I said before as long as the turbine is good just live with this lesson in internet buying since you did get a better w/g(HKS standard), a decent BOV(HKS Racing), a Decent sized IC(hopefully no leaks) and all of the piping. I hate to be so harsh but you are acting as though there should be some type of warranty. If you wanted new you should have just saved your loot and ordered a kit from Ben@importparts. CHECK the turbo for shaft play!!
Hopefully you will be able to get some money back!!

I think when you send the kit back to the guy you should keep the wastegate then sell it to me for $100. hehe

That's exactly why my friend told me to never ever ever buy a used turbo, because you don't know what could be damaged on it. Its too much of a risk!

its not bad to buy a used turbo if you get to inspect everything. If you trust the person you buy from you shouldnt have any problem.

i'd have to agree, buying a used turbo could be a good decision. but taking the word of a total stranger and holding it to be true is kind of tough.
if you can inspect the kit beforehand or know the person selling, you shouldn't have a problem. you can save lots of cash going this route.
