Default BROKE MY VSS

Yes I am a dumbass.

I was taking out my tranny and forgot to take out the VSS, and I broke the wire in half. Does all this do is tell me how fast my car is going?

Any info on this and if it will effect anything besides telling me how fast I am going would be greatly appreciated. If it only tells me how fast I am going that won't matter to me at all. If I get pulled over in it anyway it will not be for going 10 over and my Vtec controller can tell me how fast I am going KMH and I can run around 110 and be ok.

thanks in advance.

It sends a signal to the ecu that's necessary for vtec to engage. You might throw a code also, Iono though, I sometimes got a code when I didn't have one hooked up.

so even if I have the Apex Controller the Vtec will not engage? so when you had yours out the vtec did not engage at all?

F**K, well do you know how hard it is to install a new one? Where does the wire go? I did not eve really look at it at all, I was to pi**ed to even really think about it. I just took the tranny down and clean up my garage and came in.

The wire seemed like a it was made out of metal. Thanks again for any advice anyone might have.

I'm nonvtec, but if the ecu is doing the vtec job (p28 or some such) it won't work. You should be able to get a new vss cable and replace it pretty easily.
