I have a JDM lenght T1R test pipe which i have been putting off fitting after fitting a Phase Racing non-resonated test pipe on my last car which totally ruined the exhaust note from the mugen exhaust i had. Can anyone who has fitted one to their car tell me what the difference was before/after fitting it. I'm only after fitting a brand new HKS Hi-Power 'Silent' cat back system and decided to leave the test pipe off a while to see what the new system sounded like...and its so so quiet, virtually silent at cruising speed which is good IMO, and only a very low deep note on acceleration, and i'd like to keep it that way. So i'd like to have an idea of how much louder it might sound with the T1R pipe fitted (yes i know i should just go ahead and fit it and see, but i'd like to have an idea before hand)
Lastly, i read a lot of threads where people have noticed that their gas/mileage drops after fitting a test pipe...has anyone else noticed this? I didnt notice any difference in my last car...

As the T1-R testpipe is resonated, it will change the tone of the exhaust and make it less raspy - if you were using a high-flow N1 system.
In the beginning, the exhaust will be quieted down yet, some people prefer not to use a resonated unit with say their Mugen twinloop (known to be rather quiet) which is common practice here in Hong Kong and the "Mugen Honda sound" (quoting Mugen marketing) can be nice to hear.
But with all exhaust components, the packing will deteriorate over time and while it won't get raspy, it will get a little louder overall.
People probably notice a decrease in mileage because they can't resist hitting the MAd 3rd gear VteCh....

My T1R test pipe and catback set-up is fairly loud. I think something has deteriorated because it has gotten louder and a little raspy at certain rpms.
I had a high flow cat before and switched to the testpipe after I went OBD1. I did not noticed any real difference in sound, or power for that matter after the swap.
Now I'm looking at the Hytech TW header back system

What about length of the test-pipe ?? I have a JDM 4-1 header and a T1R b-pipe with a Mugen TL muffler. Right now, I'm running a muffler-shop-job straight pipe but I'd like to drop a T1R resonated pipe to lower the sound a bit. What length should the test-pipe be ??

get under your car and measure how long your test pipe is now...that is the easiest and by far the most acurate way without a bunch of internet newbs guessing....
and there are only 2 lengths of the t1r testpipe
