Is it normal to burn 3/4 quart of oil every 2,500 miles? My last oil change was in August last year and it has been about 7 months. I change oil regularly with mobil 1 synthetic and i drive my car HARD. I also use it for autox. it is now time for the oil change and I checked yesterday before the oil change that it used about 3/4 quart. Is this normal? what have you experienced with your car? Thanks.

i burn a little bit too. not that much. I think its normal for ITRs, especially with hard use.

I use to burn 1 quart every 3-4k miles. But one day I decided to change from Mobil 1 to regular valvoline oil, it stopped buring oil. The interesting thing is that I switched back to Mobil 1 after 3 regular oil changes with Valvoline and I still not buring any oil.


What gives?

hehe.. at LAguna Seca on wednesday, I used 1.5 QUARTS every 25 min session...

 

I lost about 1/2 qt of oil everytime when I change oil........and YES I drive my car HARD. I think its normal ( unless the problem getting worst )

My car consumes mobil 1, but it doesnt consume castrol GTX (both 5w 30). Albeit my car has 120k on it and is not an R..........

 

I noticed this too... I've only had my R for a month, but put 3,000 miles on it and put in a quart and a half. Granted, in this one month it has seen 3 days of autocross and a total of 1 hour on the track. Mobil 1 5w30 too.

I guess I shouldn't worry about this as well? Could it be also that I'm just driving the card much harder than it's previous 9,000 miles (sorry BlackDragon! haha) and that the engine will just need to get used to it?
