What tire pressure do you like to run at the track? Remove muffler?
I'm runnin the 1/4 mile for the first time this Friday and I have 2 Questions:
#1: What should I set my tire pressure to?
#2: Should I take off my muffler (stock GSR)? I have a Greddy SP Exhaust w/the stock GSR axleback.
It's gonna rattle like crazy and be very very loud if I remove the muffler and I don't think I'll get too much performace diff.. Heck, if anything, I'll get more from just having that much less weight in my car, but it'll be something.
I'm shootin for a 15.1-15.4 outta my DB8. If I can hit that, I'd be thrilled. I'll also be checking how accurate my G-Tech is. I'll update after this weekend.

For tire pressure, it's always easier to take away then put back in. So a good idea is to start around 20 - 22 (assuming your running street tires) and keep taking a psi or 2 out until you find something good that works for you.

And don't worry about the muffler, keep it on. My friend's RSX ran with and w/o the muffler with no difference.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Very nice and thanks.. I was leaning more towards not removing it.
but 15 psi huh?
Any other suggestions? I'm pulling everythign out of the car that shoudlnt be there.. and If I didnt have passengers, I'd gut the interior. I'd LOVE to hit a 14.x.

When I'm on drag radials, I was running 15-20 psi......but on street tires, I'd run 20-25. Just make sure you heat them up real good before you stage at the tree.
As for the muffler situation, leave it on. It really doesnt make a difference at all....
good luck!

Yes, to increase the size of the contact patch that the tires put down on the pavement.
It's not used long enough to worry about the heat buildup that would occur if you used such low pressures on the street or on a road course...

I have street tires though.. I"ve always been told that heating up street tires makes them more slippery, sicne it's a different compound than drag tires..

That's correct. Just make sure you drive around the water pit and rather than doing a burnout just spin the tires a little bit to help loosen any dirt/gravel that may be on the tires.

Well it's suppose to be a 70% chance of rain today.. and it's raining outside now
Damnit.
Well, if I don't get to go to th track, I'm pickin up an HF CRX.. Least the day will be somewhat salvageable.

I thought there comes a point in deflating tires where it actually decreases the contact patch, because as you deflate the tire, the tread shapes an upside down U...and you're running a bit on the sidewall...hmm i heard that from somehwere I forgot.

no kidding

15.74 was my best.
Myhats off to the guy who did 15.1 w/his LS. Your a damn good driver.
MY first run was @ 25 psi and i hit 15.8. I spun a good bit so I dropped the pressure: thing is, the pressure gauge didnt work so I let out "some air" (stupid thing to do).
Ended up hurting myself. When I'd shift to second, I'd wheel-hop and my launches didnt get any better.
My last run, 15.7 I aired em up to 23.5 PSI.. but w/ a 2.4 60' time, I'm not gettin anywhere fast.

2.4 60 is ok.
a lot of **** ive done doesnt really matter but ill list them off for ya.

AEM Intake, Greddy 421 SS Header, test pipe, HKS HiPower Exhuast, exedy stg 1 clutch with fidanza 9 lb lightened flywheel, bm fpr n gauge
im running on all season hankooks with tire pressure at 20 psi. a little bit of weight reduction like spare, rear seats, cf hatch. my 60' times were at 2.1 consistently. and i ran 15.1 consistently. 60' times make or break your times.
