disconnecting EGR valve vacumn line gives more power? anyone know about this?
i don't know just saw it on a racing forum do our cars have this? what is an EGR anyways? i heard by disconnecting the vacumn line to it (even though i don't know where it is) will give you more power but not that much not even noticeable...
The EGR is the tube going from the top left side of the valve cover to the top of the intake arm. Any hp gains would be very minimal.
it doesnt give you any added HP. ive tested it at the 1/4mi. all the egr valve does is recirculate exhaust gases back into your engine. so running with a disconnected one will just make you run a lil cleaner. i did throw a code however, but not for about 6 hours after i dissconected the valve...
i know a guy w/ a neon who has been running EGRless for over 2 years, no problems. over all i guess it would be better to do without the EGR because there will be a lil less buildup inside your engine.

I leave mine connected, but another advantage of undoing the EGR is it prevents oil blow-by from getting back into your intake path. Oil in the intake can cause detonation, but is really only a problem for high boost F/I motors. An other option is an oil catch can...
along with that line comming from the valve cover going to your intake youve got a hot *** "coolant" line running right next to it all that does is put hot air into your CAI
