timing marks in a ef hatch with a sohc
ok i bought this car and i think its out of time and i know its getting fire and gas so i need to know if there is any way i can tell with out taking the bottem pully off because if there is if its not out of time then i dont have to tear it all down for no reason to find out so let me know something thanks

why would you have to take the bottom pulley off..
Just get a timing light and look to the right of your motor.. slightly down to the lower pulley. the plastic casing on the motor should have a raised triangle... look down this like you are looking down a gun sight.
watch for the lines to flash by and read your timing

take the number 1 spark plug and out and use a long screw driver or something,rotate the crank pulley till the number 1 piston is at top dead center,look at your cam gear there should be 2 horizontal(sp)lines that line up with the head and UP pointing up.someone correct me if im wrong or there is another method.this way has always worked for me
