Default help not enough oil to head D16Y8

Still trying to figure out why my engine is running crappy. There's not enough oil pressure getting up to the head. Not enough to activate VTEC and not enough to lube the rockers like it should. I don't see hardly any oil sloshing under the oil cap while its running and my roommates D16Z6 throws it all over the place like it should. According the the oil pressure gauge I've got installed though it has a **** ton of pressure. 75-105 at 3000 and higher. Even 50+ cold at idle. What could this be? I'm assuming that something isn't flowing right at causing excess oil pressure at the sending unit. Would this be something in the head? head gasket? The engine was rebuilt about 8K miles ago with srp pistons and eagle rods. The machine shop assembled the bottom end I'm assuming all the clearances were right and didn't verify them as it was a reputable shop. Please let me know before I get too frustrated and put in the original Y7 Engine and sell all this crap and go buy something other than a Honda. Thanks.

have you tested oil pressure at the head?

There must be a clogged oil passage/passages somewhere.

Pressure at the head is minimal, but I guess it can't hurt to check it.

Honda seems to think that checking oil pressure at the head is important....afterall thats a part of the troubleshooting of determining why VTEC does nto engage. as a matter of act you actually test it two times, and the second one you are looking for 57 psi to the head when you are at 5k rpm. in either case when there is low oil pressure to teh head Honda recommends checking the VTEC solenoid vlave....

Yeah I checked the valve. The head only had 30K miles on it when I rebuilt the engine. So I didn't touch the head as I didn't want to have troubleshooting nightmares if the vtec didn't work. Could a wrong head gasket or anything do that.

possibly that is why you check the oil pressure at the head....its a lot simpler than pulling the head to examine the head gasket.

ok assuming that there's not enough pressure. I've tested the VTEC pressure sensor and it doesn't trigger. I doubt that it's bad so that means it doesn't have enough. What are all possible options. Head gasket? clogged passage? Bearings?

originally castrol 10w-30 and last oil change switched over to Mobile 1 5w20 or something like that.
