17" rims on a del sol
it is actually possible to fit an 18 inch wheel without rubbing issues if you use the right width, offset and tire size. 17 in a 40 ish offset around 7" wide with a 205/40r17 will fit without issues. you can fit 215/40r17 is you run about a 42-45 offset without rubbing

Roll fenders with 17s, what the hell are you smoking?

i have 18" rims on my sol for the moment, no rolling of fenders, no scrubbing issues. and it's lowered with the neuspeed sport drop with stock struts for the time being. so if you need me to, i can email you a pic of how it sits with the wheels/tires on the car. soon it will be going through a cosmetic change back to 15s and no body kit as soon as i get some cash flow in the plus.

LOL what a noob. althogh the RIM is bigger, the OUTSIDE diameter of the tire is the same, or else the speedo would be off, therefore they are the same size just more metal then rubber.
btw, you lose torque this way, since the weight is further from the ceter axis, and usually heavier (since low pro tires that have 1/2 sidewall as the same OD tire, require 3x-4x thicker sidewall) there is more rotational mass. i find 15's with 195-50-15 is the perfect weight to traction balance

Had 17x7 on my del sol and let me tell you about some major rubbng issues. If you plan on dropping your sol then the highest you should go for rims are 16's. This way you can lower it a little bit and still get away with driving down the road.
once again. people have said it before, i'll say it one more time. offset and tire size make all the diff in the world. i have 18s and lowered with zero scrubbing. of course i'm running the 215/35/18 which alot of people hate, but if you want 18s that's about the size you need to run if you don't want scrubbing issues like others have.
