Default My Very Own Parts!! (OT...but Honda related)

For those who don't know: I am a design engineer for Honda.

Today I got to see the parts that I've designed for the very first time. All the long nights at work seem worth it when I see real parts. I'm still amazed that I'll have parts I designed going on a real Honda Car! Just wanted to share w/ you guys my current joy. I've been working on them for about 7 months, filled with many long days.

Car: '04 TL
Parts: A, B, C Pillar Garnishes.

The B Pillar has moving parts, and they actually moved together nicely and everything....wow! (o.k. maybe you had to be there).
Just wanted to share.

No! I didn't say I designed clear tail lights for APC.
This is the TYPE R of jobs, so it belongs here!

I NEVER said anything about free time....on company time would be badass. I think you could work a loophole in there somehow.

When are they going to approve the factory turbocharger?

Nice work man. Now you're immortal and have to buy an '04 TL. Where's the spy shots?

I would love one. ('04) I keep telling people it will rock. Just like the new '03 2 and 4 door Accords. Honda is preparing to show Toyota where it's at.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Things I've learned at work so far:
Despite shooting for a sportier image, you will get turned down if you propose:
a) Gauge pods in the A Pillar
b) 5 pt Takata Harnesses instead of seat belts (much easier to package)...the Takata supplier was there at the time. AND no...I can't get the green harnesses at a discount YET...I tried....

What will the '04 TL be powered by?

Spill the beans on other projects... is the RS-X Type R comming?

What enginerring software do you use to design these parts? CAD, ANSYS, PROE, MECHANICA....none of the above?

I just used some of these programs for the first time the otherday and thought they were really cool.

We use Catia. Yeah, I dont' think a lot of people (in general, not on the board)...realize that a lot of cars are designed over here...example, current 2 door civic, Model X (Element), '04 TL, MDX, Pilot. I remember the first day I walked in and my boss said, "This is the model x team" and I was like "no way...you're actually building that?"...I had just seen it at the '01 Detroit Auto Show.
Anyway, yeah, designed in America, built in America, suppliers in America (mostly)..I think Ford is more Foreign.
