Is it worth building the B18A1....
Have a serious question for everyone with experience with the B18A in the 92-93' DA's. I drive the car roughly 78miles round' trip a day. I want to keep my A/C and P/S. I plan on boosting, and want a built motor to compliment the turbo setup. I had thought about an LS/Vtec setup, but I have been told their not reliable. I have also considered the usual B18C swap, but don't think I can bolt-on my A/C and P/S to the new motor. So, I thought what about building the motor I have? That way I could keep my A/C & P/S. But, what kind of beating can that particular engine take? I am after roughly 300whp daily. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Please keep your not-so-nice comments to yourselves, I have done a few different searches on this one and came up with nothing.
Oh, and the turbo setup will be either DRAG or Turbonetics with a custom-spec turbo.

First off the ls/v setup is very reliable if done right (search better). There are many ls/v setups out there that are driven daily.

Because of the cramped engine bay in DA's, keeping your a/c and p/s is difficult when going turbo.
However, i think Full-Race makes a turbo kit where you are able to keep both. Their kits are a little on the expensive side but im not really sure how much youre willing to spend.

same brackets as current, because your still going to have a b-series they will bolt right up.

i tryed to keep ac and could not do it
the engine bay in 90-93 integras are so much smaller than dc's and eg's. it makes it almost impossible to keep ac when going with a deacent turbo set up. the ac line are compleatly in the way and are ran different than 94+ cars.
ps wont be a problem to keep

for the price of an Ls/v setup youi might as well go with the 404s and nice port and polish some ARP rod bolts, and like 6 psi and you be straight
See, I thought the LS/Vtec setups were very reliable. But, I have talked with alot of people that say otherwise. I am doing alot of research, beacause of the fact that I may not boost for awhile. I do roughly 100miles round' trip a day, and the A/C is important to me. But, if I get this new position I'm hoping for, I will travel roughly 10miles a day. Then, it won't be such a big deal to keep it because I'm not doing as much driving. I'm not going for ultimate top-end power goals. I want something that is fun, reliable, and has the ability for more if I want. Maybe the LS/Vtec would be a good starting point. Run that all-motor, then consider boosting later. I do appreciate all the help.
