I am trying to help a guy out fixing his 1994 Civic EX. He bought it a short while back, and didn't realize that the driver window doesn't work.

The previous owner said that it worked fine before, but while driving down the road one day, a bit of smoke came out from under his steering column. He said it hadn't worked since.

I checked it out, and attempted to replace the fuse 3 times, each time the fuse popped as soon as the car was in the ON position, without even touching the switch.

Anyone have any idea what and where I should look to try and solve this guys problem?

I have access to a helms manual, but I wasn't able to get to it today, so I wanted to see what you all might be able to come up with.

 

do u have a multimeter? its a short to ground

dont want to thread jack, but i have a 00EK manual windows, driver side window doesnt roll all the way up, but thanks to my window visors its ok, but anyone know what the problem is? i took off the door panels, and saw pieces of glass..thinking it might have been due to theft.

it rolls up enough, but when give it a car wash, i have to force the window up, but i dont want to strip the roller upper thingy o.0

I agree, the ground is f'ed. slkleltlclh, I had that same problem on my car, I actually broke the handle trying to roll it up. What I did was replace the regulator and now it works fine. I think it got effed up when some bastards broke into it like you said.

 

Where does the power window for the driver side actually ground to? would it be as simple as just getting a self tapping screw and making a new ground or grounds for it?

 

have a short somewhere. check to see if it was in an accident near the door fender area. wires run their,also take the door panel off to inspect all the wiring in the door. if everthing good get a manual to track wires down and check for shorts

no never do that, it MIGHT fix the problem, but u dont want to ground it at a different place just because u might ground it where the short is..and that wont do any good, get a wiring diagram.
