Default Oil filter for 97 Lude

I'm having trouble removing this damn oil filter for my 97 lude. The filter that's on it don't have a grip at the end which makes it dificult to remove. I'm trying avoid removing it from the bottom of the car. Is there a trick to remove from the top engine bay? I've try all the available oil filter wrench but there's not that much room in the engine bay.

TIA

I just changed mine on my car last weekend. Just use your left hand and reach down there backwards to get a good grip on it. It is very hard to do with your right hand because you can angle your right hand enough to get a good grip.

just go to your local auto part store and ask for an oil filter remover. They look like overside plyers almost. I use this when I change my oil and works everytime

oh.. you must have a type SH then right?

this is what I basically use when I have to deal with them:

yea.. if its your first time.. I feel you're paint and know it can be a PITA.. hence why I bought that small rachet (mines a flex head) just for the Type SH when I do oil changes (now I use it all the time for oil filters.. )... but yea.. I've seen oil filters at more worst positions than the Type SH (ie IS300, Ford F-150, etc..)
