Use the plyers at the base and turn it off. It def can be done. Or use a filter wrench at the base where it's not crushed. It's tight in there but you can move it so you can slowly get it off a turn at a time

hand tight, or HAND tight? it's only supposed to be on there snug, then a 1/8 turn to make it tight enough. rule of thump for me is to test how tight i put it on by tightening it then loosening it. getting a good feel to make sure it's not on too tight, just snug, just right.

i do hand tight 1/2 turn. and thats good enough for me to get back off. you have to becarefull when using the screwdriver trick. people will tell you to do it, but not tell you you want to be near the end of the filter so theres no chance of you messing up the fitting in the block. i would use a strapwrench of a big set of channel locks. or a think set of gloves and alil bit of your sweat, and tears.....and a whole lotta being pissed off.

use some muscle and keep on tying
next time make sure you lube up the rubber seal before you put the filter on. I bought the cap tool that fits over the oem filter end and use that and a ratching wrench to take mine off. gluck.

Re: Oil Filter Shredded!!! Help Please!
happen to me once, i just gave up brought it to castrol a couple of blocks away from my house, ran the car their with no oil pressure, which i don't suggest and the dude took it off. After that i bought almost every tool to take oil filters off, get the claw based one and try to get a good grip with that, if not use a strap holder it seems to work ok. Their is nothing to do, but to keep trying. Good Luck

when i saw the pic the only word in my mind was "WOW!"
use oil filter pliers.
by the look of your pic, it looks are the end part is somewhat flat.
why dont you use grip pliers or regualr ones and try turning it that way?

Just a lil update lol, Soo.. I got a new oil pressure sending unit.. And i had a buddy come over and look at it.. if you think it was tore up before its REALLY tore up now lols.. We've gotten it ripped down so much were taping a screw driver on the holes at the end of the oil filter (The part that goes in the block) and it's not moving.. I still have NO IDEA how it got this tight.. only thing i can think of is i must be really strong when i'm drunk lol.

Maybe you ctoss-threaded it?
All I can say is that's what you get for using a POS Fram filter! J/K! I only use the K&N HP1004 (which has a 1" nut on the top to use a socket for removal), or the OEM 15400-PLM-A02 & the S2000 15400-PCX-004 OEM filters FTW!

Re: Oil Filter Shredded!!! Help Please!
Same thing happened to me a few months back. My car was down for 2 days because of that. I bought every sort of filter removal tool and none worked. Tried the screwdriver trick and ended in your position. My friend finally came over with a large pair of pliers with teeth. He got it to bite down really good and with a little force we got the filter off in about 3 minutes.
Good luck.
Good luck.
