Best Vtec Contoller?
The second version I got to play with more...didn't come with an instruction manual (it was already installed int he car I played with it on) and it was fairly easy to figure out, and worked well. We spent about an hour driving in the mountains tinkering and it did everything we wanted it to, but it IS decently expensive.
As for the first model they made, I know alot of companies use it and love it. I haven't really gotten to play with it, so I can't vouch for it.
Good luck, but I say
for APEXI's VAFC

I have a Field SFC VTEC controller. Its bloody great, allows adjustment of vtec crossover point and air/fuel adjustments of up to plus or minus 30 percent. It also has a speed cut removal function and digital speedo. I have no idea where to buy them from new as I picked mine up second hand off some guy here in NZ.
wiring to obd1 and letting it do its thing
Use a form of tuning if you need to alter it eg neptune hondata or crome.
I would never run a msd setup and or any halfass way when obd1 is just so much easier and nicer.
You could wire it up and stay obd0 run something like turbo edit.

easy to use?? I've never experenced "easy to use" w/ either VAFC. Took me along time to adjust everything to a *close* tune. I would highly recomend setting these things up on a dyno, if you dont have access to a dyno(mine is 300 miles away) good luck

i used a fields, i like it, i picked it up at nopi last year for 165, got it from island motorsports. i liked it while i had it, i sold it recently, im gonna tune with uberdata and just say the hell with it, vtec.... then boost, life is good
I actually had one of those Buddy club vtec controllers....Bought from a local shop when they were $50.The thing is though i didnt just use the vtec controller and thats it,,,i also had turboedit chip ecu to compensate for the vtec fuel/timing,,i just liked playing with vtec point, cause the higher you moved it the louder the x-over
..I never had any problems with it,its pretty self explanitory and simple to use...Sold it though to some kid around my way..
