Hondata--ROM Ignition Map question
Can some of you please send me a copy of your ROM file so I can see how your ignition maps are set up? The base maps from Hondata for turbo have the timing curves starting at 18.5 degree advance and go up from there. Is that what everyone is running at? If so, what is your base timing set to?? If set to 16 (stock) that means you are getting 2.5 deg of advance on top of the 16 from the start of your rpm range, no?
thanks

Right, but if your ROM Editor is set for 16 BTDC and someone created that map with their ROM Editor set for 14 BTDC, the tables will be shifted 2 degrees advanced across the board if you open that map with your editor.

mine is set to 16deg, which is what my ignition timing in my car is set to based on standard timing light settings. I then created a ROM using Hondata's base turbo map and I get a map which starts at 18.5 degrees. That means if I run that map, I get a 2.5degree advance over my base timing from the get go. Is that what other people are running usually? There was a comment made by Hondata on the website based on a Dyno tune that it seems advance makes little difference in power. I am also interested in what the timings are in the boost ranges for other people's tunings.

Even though your base timing is set at 16 btdc at idle, Hondata is looking for the timing number at ~500 rpm which is usually about 2 deg lower. To get that number, unplug that IACV and the revs should drop down.

I always set my timing with the iacv off so I get low idle speeds, that is the recommended way. It is set to 16 deg with my timing light.
What I would like to know is, if I have my base timing set at 16, should I start the timing curve then at 16 or do most people have it starting at 18.5.
Can some of you email me your ROMs so I could compare?
thanks

The Roms that have the boost ignition maps created automatically retard per lb of boost. This leads to too much retard at higher boost levels (above 11lbs)
I am working on making the adjustments to all the maps in the library that have not been dynotuned already. Provided ignition is at stock, maximum retard should be no more than 14 degrees under boost.
