I just picked up an A6. I was told it was rebuilt 10k miles ago and has a bad rod bearing on the 3rd cylinder.
I was told when I picked the motor up yesterday that it has integra or ls pistons in it. that doesn't sound right.
I am wondering if I should just buy new pistons and bearings or get the whole kit.

I had a z6, just sold it. Going back to something that belongs in a Crx. I hated dealing with OBD1 and vtec and stuff. The previous owner turned me off from all of it, since he royally fucked the install.

it probably has the early integra pistons (D16a1 dohc)....
That rebuild kit seems to come with everything..i would get it just make sure to get the right size bearings from them..are you gonna get overbore pistons or standard?

When i rebuild motors that have standard bore i always overbore 20 and get 20 over pistons and rings...Its how i was taught to rebuild engines,,cause it ensures a true circle and gives a fresh surface..........Its not totally neccesary though..

Hmmm. I hate not know what was done with the last rebuild and wish I knew why it already started knocking. I guess I will find out when I pop open the block.
I have to acquire the rest of the motor now too, lol.

ya that's the correct way to do it. But I just check to see if the specs are good and if they are install standard pistons.
