mpfi swaps on 88 standards haul ***... know why? 13:1 compression stock. suply more fuel and air and BAM! your flying. my source, http://www.carpoint.com. fun stuff
I would VERY much like to know how you get 13:1 compression when all you are changing is the intake manifold, distribuetr, ECU, and some wiring.
yeh its not 13 ur nuts if u think its 13 **** i have a 88 std and i know its not it more like 10.2:1 or so and with a y8 or y7 head its up at like 11:1 or so maybe more

it is 13:1 from factory: carpoint.com also call up honda (i did this actually because my friend told me he was researching my motor cause he couldnt understand why my mpfi std spanked his 93 ls teg). 88 civic standard d15b1. theres an article about NA motors in new sport compact i believe, that also confirms this compression ratio (i think thats the mag i'll find out exactly tomorrow). its the only honda motor (besides crv) with more torque than hp. if you look at the std intake manifold it makes perfect sense why its slow from the factory. it only uses 2 injectors because of the tandem valve. even when the t body is wide open the max air you can get into it is 1/3 diameter of the tbody. no air, not as much gas needed. hence 2 injectors. you thro in an si manifold on there you get the full amount of air (that t body will allow) and twice as much fuel. very potent combonation. the std motor is NOT the same as the DX (hatch) or HF (crx) just detuned. this is not the case. r/s ratios are different which creates different compression ratios. you dont believe me? lets race
and no im not nuts, just informed

lack of air and fuel, less combustion.... look at the freeking design of the things. its not made to burn a **** ton of fuel
its an econo box w/ **** ton torque (compared to hp) to compensate for the lack of hp.. less air (2/3 less) requires much less fuel. and its not the other way around.. its designed backwards amount of gas is regulated by air (in a sense) to create combustion.

i will get the mag article and make a pdf of it the throw it on my site. so far 3 different sources have told me the exact same thing. the friend who told me he saw this in a mag prolly wouldnt lie to me about it.. he hates hondas. it was quite random actually. "hey did you know this..... about your motor?" "ya your the 3rd person to tell me actually". idk i'll keep researching for everyone tho
Dude you must be smokin some butter!
Lemmi hit that shiiiiiiiit
Compression on the D15B1 is 9.2:1 PERIOD!
70HP@5500Rpm and 83LB-FT@3000
Talk about mad torque yoh!
All that other **** you say doesnt even make any since.
92-95 Cx and Vx also have more torque than hp..
And all the 84-87 Civic have more torque than hp too..
EV1 60HP@5500 73LB-FT@3500
EW3[PGM-FI] 91HP@5500 93LB-FT@4500
Im sure theres others but who cares.
Oh and **** a mag article and second hand knoledge this is straight from the factory manual.

i actually am the other 88 std owner on this board with a few changes to teh d15b1 and if i was running 14:1 compression i think id have a problem for reall teh combustion chamber is pretty big on the 88-91 d series head i have a d16y7 head witch has a smaller chamber and a y8 headgasket. the car is faster than new stock sis and all stock crx/civic sis but its not 13:1 stock... ill say this my car runs a 15.5 with a dx 4dr tranny but im sure id detonate if i had that high of a compression as for the issue of someone saying it has 9 somethingim not so sure about that teh TB has a restricer plate witch makes the std motor get less airflow all teh d15s 88-91 had more than a 9.2 or wuter u said but he is right the d15b1 is very peppy it revs fast as ****
hehehe look at the d16 heheheheheh

it also says it already has MPFI.. so why would you need a MPFI swap? that site =
DX's dont have MPFI they have like 2 injectors that arent in ports. WTF is up with that info. I heard it helps if you lookunder the hood to see what engine is in the car before rating it etc...
Haha thats totally in accurate. WHat makes Carpoint the "Source" of perfect information. All they do is copy from what they are given and no one is there to check for corrections because they dont know any better. All they do is type info into html to go on page.
It also says that at the Fuel economy part that there is no 4 speed Auto available for any of these motors. but above that, it says theres an optional auto 4 speed.
Gee... accurate? I dont think so.
End this post cuz if it was true, we would have known it by now. And I woulda swapped out to that 13:1 compression motor way back in 1992.

4speed auto was optional on dx only[for hb's atleast].
Si and Std are manual only.
And all 88-91's except D16A6 are 9.2:1 and D16A6 is 9.1:1
