Default searched searched: header for a b18a

as the title states, i have a b18a1 in my newly acquired 89 si and i want to get some power outta this bad boy,
i was wondering:
1: what would be a good brand im leaning towards DC (pricewise)
2: 4-2-1 or 4-1
3: if a 4-2-1 should it be 1 or 2 piece
4: what car should i buy the header for (for the fitment)

thanks

just get the DC 4-2-1, its cheap and decent. IF your not going for a super if N/A setup it will work just fine. IMO 4-1 headers arent as good for a b18a as they are more for high RPM power, which a b18a cant take advantage of. 4-2-1 is more midrange/low end, where the b18a shines

for the b18... you will probably also need to modify the exhaust to meet up to the downpipe.

order it for a integra. Most B-series are the same, to be specific, you need a header for a 90-93 integra LS or GS

related question:

when you put on a header like this, you no longer use heat shields, correct? Wouldn't this be bad for the radiator fan, a/c plumbing, etc.? My b18's stock exhaust manifold sits so close to the condensor fan, you can barely fit a pinky in there. Is a DC 4-2-1 shaped differently to not be so close to these components? does it dissipate heat differently/more efficiently?

Get a header for a 90-91 integra..I would get megan racing over dc sport personally ,,cheaper and better(imo)..Go with the 4-2-1 if you want low-mid rpm gains,,go with the 4-1 if you want mid-high rpm gains..Also ground clearance is better with the 4-2-1 header

Dont worry, clearances will be fine, the heat wont cause a problem.

DC is bad I would agree bottom line though :both those headers do nothing.
You can make a ton more power off a 4-1 mid range if its setup right.

I'm more and more an elitest about headers more I research them.

You are correct mostly about the gernalazations but a well made header can be 4-1 or 4-2-1 and be great for whole band.

The "worst" header I'd put on my car is a Spark racing. I have a DC now it does nothing poor fit and bangs non stop. Did nothing over the OEM gsr exhaust mani I was running dnyo backs that, with a semi built motor.

If you really want to go N/A spark racing Bisimotor RMF etc. Comptech Greddy do make a tiny bit of power and pick up under the curve a fair amount. but really do you want to gain 3 peak for 400 or 10 for 500?

Thats your call.

Just my .02

the reason that im selling my header, is that im going to be boosting in a month or two, now i think $200 for my headers is a reasoning price.... still in the box.

em2ssm02: Try a little patience...3 posts in an hour, c'mon.

B18a_CRX: The 90-91, 92-93 and 94-01 are all different. As are the GS-R and LS. Quit passing on bad generalized info.

I ended up getting a 90-91 B18a header. It was 2" too long at the bottom and the bolt holes were not aligned the same way as my CRX cat.
So I did this:

Works fine but it would be easier if someone knew if here was a bolt on version.

what you should do is get a 92-93 header because it is 2 inches shorter compared to the 90-91 header.
