question about ep3...
it might be a dump question, can any1 tell me if the ep3 have a black box hidden somewhere in the car? i mean i've heard that "THEY" wanted to put a black box in the newer in the future.... black box= hondadata???/ pls educate me...
im not sure wat your ? is, but they do not come stock with hondata. just plain old ecu. by black box do u mean governer? if so yes. get k-pro i hav it and love it. all cars hav "black boxes" if u mean ecu. almost every car hav a governer, if it doesn't it just tops out(rev limit)
If by black box you mean something that records what happens in the car, yes there is. There can be one in any car with an ECU. It only records segments and as there is more to record it erases previous data, but lets say you blew up your engine. They could tel if it was malfunction from parts or just bad parts. And they can look at everything that has to do with that engine.
So its the ecu that records data relating to the engine only? or what about if i disconnect any electronics like the srs airbag and ect... will it records data in the ecu, too?
If you disconnect anything that should be hooked up it will have a code in the stock ECU. When someone reads the codes they will see them so if you are asking in regards to your warranty be careful with what you unplug or remove. Or just get a k-pro.

I've noticed a few USDM EP3 Si people ask about this. The only thing I can think of that is causing the enquiries is the hookup under the steering wheel at knee level.
This connector is used by dealers to activate the alarm on a USDM EP3 if the original purchaser has elected to pay for that feature. The USDM EP3 is already wired for it, and all you would have to do is turn it on. You can install extra features to it, like a siren or motion sensors, but the basic system is already there.
The OEM ECU in the USDM EP3 Si does keep track of various sensor information until it is reset, as other people have said. The ECU will record information that some people would find disturbing, like the maximum revs ever attained in any gear, and the top speed the car has ever seen and when it happened.
So, in a way, there is a sort of "black box" that records some kinds of information, but it is incidental to the car's maintenance and health, and is not really the kind of "black box" that people think of when you use those words. There's no way to track w/the OEM ECU where on the planet the car has ever gone, for example, and this would be one of the most useful features of the "black box" that most people would mean when they use those words.

if you disconnect the SRS sensor on the seats, the only thing that will happen is the indicator light goes on on the dash. reset it yourself and you're good to go.
there was talk a few years back about "black boxes" and cars. it would provide info when dealing with accidents and stuff or keeping tabs on what kids were doing while driving dad's corvette. as always, privacy issues come up, and nothing was done.
