White car, black rims, carbon fiber hood and lip, slammed,no interior besides seat and dash....
Just kidding..
jdm style to me is real jdm parts on your usdm car making it look like you just drove over from japan but i dont really care for it personally ...and it seems like now days these guys just spray all their lights amber, slam the car, paint their steelies black, get jdm driving stickers and then call their car jdm

Mr. Speaker...always full of AWESOME information...
JDM...it's something you just understand or don't. Alot of people don't see the point since the differences are so small/mild in most applications. Basically, it's what Mr. Speaker said, though.
Keep in mind...you're entering a battlefield. most people on this site are JDM, Performance, or Rice. Choose wisely, good friend.

I never heard of jdm until I come on this forum and begain reading,
anyway I really think its an awesome style, its like not stock but not rice, just like a clean smooth style - like lowered on 15s, few carbon bits and peices, turbo or moded n/a powered engine and japanese parts,
however its really an american style when you think about it and I thinks its funny that its called jdm,
jdm style is basicly non existint over here in nz althougth jdm stuff is plentiful and cheap, rice is the norm sadly
anyway believe it or not althougth jdm imports is what we get over here in nz, with me styling my crx like you american guys I am infact making my crx unique .... wierd isnt it
, people over here just dont style their hondas dilebretly like you american guys,
obviously all our stock hondas have factory jdm parts but I mean it wouldnt suprise me if some people here started buying usdm parts and having usdm styled hondas to be different ...
thanks for your replys thus far, I was just wondering what exactly jdm is and was.

seriously since the rare and jdm parts are so plentifull and cheap ove there in the NZ/AUS area you should buy alot of that stuff and sell to these guys/gals over here that will literally kill for some of these things...
By the way you guys are crazy with the cars down there...No where else will you see grandmas cars running 9 second 1/4 mile

Mabey we can work out a trade. I send you Rice, and you can send me stock JDM stuff. Sounds like we can both profit.

I don't think any of that has anything to do with JDM or Japan in general. Honda never made any parts for the CRX involving a turbo or carbon fiber.
In reality JDM is "Hey look what the CRX comes with in Japan, we don't get that, let's put it on our Non-Japanese Domestic Market CRX!" Sure it has now evolved into a scene with a distinct look that can be extended out to brands, colors, paint schemes, etc, but that is typical America (Let's copy someone elses style, put a new word on it and floss it like we invented it!)
This post should be locked, it's only a matter of time before this becomes a flame fest. I'm sure you could find JDM on wikipedia.com or something if you really want a definition. Or just do some searching and you will find what you're looking for.
My $.02... I guess what you would call a "performance" guy. I will take add whatever parts I consider to make my car better, no matter what country they are from or what brand they are (although somehow most of the time it ends up being OEM Honda anyway
)

I'm a performance guy too, I just like JDM frontends better. I'm not a JDM GURU or anything. I won't spend ridictulous amounts of money on parts because they are rare. I also run a JDM hood, because it is the only way I can fun a OEM metal hood that will clear my engine(k20). I have Italian, German, Japanese, and American parts on it. If it makes it better I will use it. Simple and plain.
JDM style=Ricer garb
JDM OEM Honda=Parts from an car from Japan.

A little more in depth on my .02...
I wouldn't say JDM is "stupid ****"...wait...first off...I'm not flaming ANYONE in here. Just stating my opinion. If it offends you, just think "this is just a forum with open ideas and open conversation...everyone has their own opinions, I don't need to start a war to spread mine." K? Goooooood.
I wouldn't say JDM is "stupid ****". However, SOME Of their styling is pretty badass. Most of it is only SLIGHTLY different changes in appearance, and SOME of it helps the car to handle better. America has slightly different standards on their production cars than japan does. Thus, Japan has to make our cars a little different. Same goes for Europe...also called "EDM". Unfortunately, some of the JDM fans take it out of proportion and go overboard..just like the ricers do/did. JDM stuff is just expensive because of the freight costs to have it shipped from there to here, but, just like any hobby, you'll have some nuts out there that will pay anything for anything. Such as 20$ for a "JDM Waterbottle" which probably states "made in china" on the bottom of it and simply has "JDM" printed on the side. It's all just a fad, and it's all just people preference. As for me? I like a nice combination of it all. My civic will get a JDM rear wing on it, JDM fenders with side markers, and everything else will remain USDM or aftermarket (IE Skunk2, etc) As for my CRX, however, it will get a JDM front end from the EF9 simply because IMO it looks cleaner, sleeker, and little more evil. Kinda like a little clown...it's tiny, but evil.
JDM is simply "Japanese Domestic Market" meaning, as stated before, a "Stock Japanese car". Japan's version of our car...or rather, we have a US version of THEIR cars.
If you can get your hands on some JDM stuff, dude, get it, and post it for sale on here. You'll make a ****-ton of money. But just do us and your reputation a favor, and sell it for good pricing. Don't cheat yourself, you DID pull the part, but at the same time, sell the parts for the hobby...not the profit. We're all into cars here, right? Help others, and let others help you. Consider selling stuff, though, if you can.
As for you, my newcoming friend, just do what you like. Forget the ricers, no one really likes them anyways, and mix and match what you like. If you're looking for USDM parts...I don't know a site you can go to, but you can find plenty of it here through Honda-Tech's sponsored classifieds section http://www.HondaMarketplace.com Just post yourself a wanted-to-buy, and I'm sure you'll get results. For JDM styling, there are plenty of sites, but I recommend http://www.passwordjdm.com
Good luck in your building, and always remember...your car is YOUR car. Build it how you like it. expletive what anyone else says.
Happy tuning, building, or whatever you do.

It kinda comes down to this:
Am I willing to spend a ridiculous amount of money on overpriced parts that don't add to the performance or functionality of my car but make it look slightly different to a discerning eye?
That's JDM!

JDM is pretty much in my eye one of two things
1. A new fashion fad that grew because of drifting.
2. How Japanese cars should have been released in the US in the first place. We didn't even have an SiR CRX. We got an SI (which is junk compared to an SiR). I like JDM because I have had a long appreciation for Japanese cars for a long time, and with it being possible and cost effect to build the car you have read about or played in Gran turismo I think it is awesome. Personally I like JDM because of the enthusiast atmosphere. Now true there are the guys who just buy JDM just because it is in style, but that is not the whole spectrum, just like there are guys who love building show cars and then there are the ricers who try and imitate the real show car builders.
