Default difference between rod knock and valve knock?

My car got hydrolocked and now I am just trying to figure out if its a rod knocking or a valve. Is there a way to tell the difference

I was going to ask the same thing so I would like to know to. they seem to be the same symptons but I guess there are differences as I was told I need a valve adjustment and not 1 person said it was my rods...

if it's hydrolocked, it's probably a rod.

I am hoping it's not that though. It doesn't seem to be. When I rev the engine it gets faster, and a little bit more louder.

usually when you hydrolock it affects the bottom end , piston, rods , crank etc...

compression test, chances are if u bent a valve then ur compression will be low, i'v heard a spun rod it was loud, if it is a semi-mild knocking i would say it was the valves
