Default oil drain ...... too much? (video)

this is with a b16 (cold start). I do not know the pressure (no gauge), but might it be flowing too much oil?

....and for the grammar police, yes the title should say "too" much.

too much pressure would be my only guess. Is the feed line something you just put together or ordered for that application? beacuse the feed line should reduse the pressure to prevent blowing out seals which is what looks like happened to you.

at face value, I'd say yes that seems like a lot out of a #3 line....is that what you have, or is it larger?

if you leave it on for too long... all your oil will drain out after a while

It is a brand new sc61 journal bearing turbo.....we just started the car last night, that is what you saw. It might have looked like the oil was coming out of the compressor, but it was just running down the compressor from the oil outlet. The oil line is a stealthmode performance line........which off the site says it is a -3an line.

might try a restrictor.....

Funny thing... I called precision a while back and asked them about oil pressure in there non BB turbos being to high (80psi) and this is what was said, I quote

" We have race cars that run 120PSI all day long, we have had no blown seals, there is no need to run restrictors on our non BB turbos"

Soooo the restrictors are ment more for BB turbos, and not so much for journal bearing turbos.

Street cars run all day long, not race cars. Those guys are idiots. Call Garrett, they make the CHRA's.

Hu?? I understand the meaning of what was said.. I was quoting precision, I am a PTE dealer, and had a few customers with questions about high oil pressure, and blown seals. I was told by 2 of PTE's reps that the precision journal bearing turbos do no require restrictors on honda/acura applications and the seals were not blowing due to higher oil pressure. But ALL ball-bearing turbos do require oil restrictions.

as a PTE dealer I am also a garrett dealer, I will be making a call tomarrow to a few people on that side to get more info on this, as PTE swears by this
