Anyone have Second Gear problems?
Well not that I have the problem, but I was wondering if anyone was having this problem because I was wondering what to do if this happened. Is this common for many RSX's?
My brother has an 04 rsx-s and he second gear didnt want to go in at high rpm. So we killed second gear so it wont go in at al even driving normal. Then we took it to a dealership and they fixed it. When they opened it second gear was gone and 3rd a 4th were damaged. Thats one flaw of Honda their trannys. I just finished fixing my B16 tranny in my hatch.

At 15K miles my 3rd gear is getting a little fussy when the car is cold. After it warms up, everything is fine.
But I have a late 04 and those problems were supposed to been taken care of by then.
My 2nd gear is fine.

Yes common and well known problem in the 02 (2nd gear), 03-04 (third gear). The ITRs did not have the same issue due to the final drive. Its an issue with the the 5th and 6th gear synchros. You can take it to the dealer and if they can recreate the grind, there is a service bullitin to take care of the problem. It was posted on CRSX back in 03. Probably still in the archives if you want to print it out.

the syncros on the 2nd gear are bad
you better fix it soon before pieces from your 2nd gear snap off and get caught with other gears

negative. Its the 5th and 6th gear syncros which are off and screwing up the lower gears timing/sync when changing gears. If he were to replace his second gear the problem would still occur. There was an official Honda service bulletin describing the issue and the fix, and the components replaced were the 5th and 6th gear synchros.
