Default Integra cuts off randomly.

I got a 94 Integra. Recently I have been having a few problems with it. It's completely stock with 234k miles.

My problem is sometimes the car doesn't start. The starter is working but it just doesn't turn over. So I just turn it off, remove the key, and wait like five seconds and try again.

When it does start, then it can either stay on, or just turn of immediately. If it turns off, then I just remove the key, wait a few, and try again, but this time pressing the accelerator.

This happens randomly and only happens at max, two times a month. What should I be checking to find out what the cuase is?

Thanks

check the main relay, listen if your fuel pump turns on for a few seconds when you turn on the key. also try checking the ignitor or coil. check for spark while cranking the car.

i had a similar problem in my DA. it was the Main Relay causing the problem.

when you try starting it, smack the dash to the left of the steering wheel. it used to help with my DA

Thanks, I'll try check those things. It just sucks I can't reproduce the problem to diagnose it, cause the car is running fine right now.

Is there a way to check the fuel pump's life? Like how much life it has left or will it just die when it dies?

Try the ignition coil, because I recently had that problem where it would shut off, won't start, and start at times after a long time of trying.

Anyway, ignore the first post, but concerning the fuel pump there maybe a way to test the amount of electricity the fuse carries. There's an article on pop. mechanics on it. Pop. Mechanics.

Did that, it was fine, probably since everything was working at the time. Checked the sparks, those were fine.

But how do you check the main relay? I took it off and it looked okay to me. What am I supposed to be looking for, for signs of wear?
