Default H22 rebuild?

I don't know about anyone else, but my lude is burning oil. I was wondering if this had to do with the aluminum cylinder walls. I'm planning a rebuild soon and hope to beef up the bottom end and valvetrain and maybe throw a few pounds of boost at it later (nothing to crazy). I'm hearing a lot about Mahle pistons. Whats the deal? Anyone one got any tips or parts that they recommend? Thanks.

How many miles are on your current engine? Could be blow by (bad piston rings). Do you have an aftermarket oil pressure gauge? If so, make sure the sending unit isn't leaking.

Make sure you decide if you want to go NA or FI. You shouldn't use high compression pistons with a turbo build. Generally, people go with 9.0:1 compression ratio with pistons for turbo. NA can go 11.0:1 and higher.

i,ve got about 95k miles. i guess i could do compression and leak down test to make sure. do you happen to know how much boost the stock bottom end can handle with 9.0:1?

it's not the compression matter. it's the matter how tough are your engine internals to deal with pressure and how your car is tuned.

You can do a compression test on to see how your motor is doing.

Also, you'll have to sleeve your block if you plan on running forged pistons.

People have slapped on a turbo with a stock bottom end, but I don't think it lasts too long.

As stated above, you would need a sleeved block to run forged pistons. I know its a lot of $ (kind of) upfront but you will be happier in the long run.
