any audio peeps?
desided to take some switches out of the dash i had below the cd player, so i took out the cd player, un hooked the cables leading to the subs (taking out the subs too) and hooked the wiring harness and the antenna back into the cd player, turned on the car, and the cd player doesnt turn on ( i didnt hook the subs up ) so im thinking maybe the sub wiring is what gives it the juice? and the sub cables freakin fell under the dash, and i really dont feel like taking it apart and finding them, so i don't know, do you usually hook up the cables to the battery like that, or is something wrong?
i checked the fuse on the back of the cd player, and it was fine. and i checked the wiring harness and it was fine. so really, either the sub cable gave it the juice, or something is fuckered up ;P

sounds like a wiring mess . Take it to someone that knows what they are doing with sterio systems. It could be so many diff things. To hard to determine the prob over the computer. It could also be something very stupid too, but I still say take it to someone to have it looked at.
Well you are going to have to pull the deck out again no matter what. The most common thing is that one of the wires came loose on the harness. You need to check all the wires. There should be one that is for the remote turn on that the amp would have to be wired to. Thats what it sounds like. I would check all the wires on the harness and make sure they are connected to the right things.
The subs do not provide power to the deck. You probably blew the 7.5A fuse under the hood or the dome light fuse in the driver's kick. If it turns out to be the fuse, chances are the wiring is shitty and that's why it blew. Circuit City charges around $30 for a hardwire. They're the only place that solders.
I wasn't suggesting that the subs were powering the deck I was saying that maybe buy unplugging all that stuff he unpluged the remote turn on that make the system turn on automatically when he starts the car. THere could very easily be a loose wire in the harness that is causing all of this. I know when i put my deck in I had to re crimp a few wires because they came loose during install.

so many possible things can be wrong.. take out deck. get a light tester, test if theres power. could be a fuse. could be a loose wire. one of those switches could be wired to the power of the deck, if your not too great with car stereo stuff get a buddy thats knows more than you to take a look at it.
