Default cd player grounded out?

hey so i just want to start out buy saying im dumb? so i took my cd player out of my car a while back and i wanted to keep the wiring harness so i just cut it off cd player. then when i went to sart the car and the wiring harness sparked and my cigarette lighter and clock go out. so i disconect the wiring harnes and rock and roll with no cd player for a while. i wanted to put a new cdplayer in so i check the fuses and replace the one that was blown and the clock and cigarette lighter still dont work. and the new cd player doesnt work. i was just wondering what to go after next to get every thing going again?

There are 2 fuses for the CD player/Radio one is under the hood and one is under the dash. Check both and report back what you find!

if you can, use a test light or a muti meter and see if your constant wire and switch wire have power and also see if you have a good ground.

does your dome light come on when you open the door correct me if i'm wrong but i think the dome light fuse is also linked up to the radio. also check and see if the fuse on the radio is blown too it should be next to the harness of the radio if it is a aftermarket radio.

I wouldnt recommend using a test light but use a multimeter and check for voltage. Also, like eskimo10 stated check for fuses under the hood as well........mostly like its the fuse under the hood.....

I think it's labeled "test me with a meter or light and stop guessing".
