Default Smoke in engine bay

I just got my car out of the shop today after hitting a curb after a tire blowout. Anyways, when I got the car home I noticed a SMALL almount of smoke coming from under the hood but when I popped it the smoke was much more visible. I've ALWAYS noticed a small amount of smoke when I got out of my car at night and it's coming out by the headlights but never noticed it in the day time until now.

I know VTEC's love to burn oil but could this be something else?

Few things about the car:

- Was sitting for nearly 3 weeks
- After punching the gas I can smell a tiny hint of something burning
- Mild mods I/H/E
- Car has rebuilt engine (dont know mileage... odomter has 180,000)

most of the time smoke is coming from oil burning on the block or exhaust, when u hit the curb you could easily have broken apart some seals, smoke out of the hood though is pretty general and its impossible to diagnose, pop the hood, do you see any leaking oil under the car, any oil on engine parts, anything a dark brown color from burnt oil, is the oil level on the dipstick falling quicker than before, are you loosing tranny fluid, does it smell more like rubber or plastic burning than oil, are any vacuum hoses or wires melted, are any loose and/or sitting too close to hot parts like the block and exhaust, start the car, do you see any oil leaking out of anywhere while the motor is running???

common places for oil to be leaking from: around the crank pulley, around the oil filter, between the head and valve cover, and next to the vtec solenoid there is a round black rubber cap like 1.5inches in diameter that goes on the end of the intake cam, that is widely known to leak oil, where it would fall straight onto the header downpipe right behind the cat

diagnose a little further and get back with us

Finally got the car back from the garage. They fixed the seals, new valve cover gasket, and VTEC seal. I still have smoke coming from the bay and I would hate to drive it back to the garage. It seems like it's coming from two places: 1) Near or under the header but I see no oil or fluids on it. 2) Behind the block

I'm still not to familiar with auto parts so go rookie on me here. I'll see if I can get a video of it and post it up.

...now me and the mad scientist have to rip apart the block and replace the piston rings you fried.

i'd like to see that vid, i'm having the same problem. change valve cover gasket, seals, oil pan gasket, head gasket, exhaust manifold gasket, checked oil filter, but still can see smoke coming from under the hood... i even had the engine bay detailed to get the oil that was spilled from oil changes out.

alot of times smoke will be created from grease and handoils burning off the exhaust manifold or block.

Smoke from back pass side, would indicate a leaking water pump. Where's the smoke coming from while the engine is running?

im almost 100% sure you have a hole in your oil pan from bottoming out your car, same thing happened to me and it got worse as time went on, should be pretty cheap if you can do the job yourself.

If I were to have a hole in my oil pan wouldn't I lose oil? I'm reading average levels...

Smoke seems to be coming from behind the block. I'll get up a vid asap (hopefully you can see it)
