Default MSD caused check engine light to come on???

I just installed the MSD Blaster coil and the pro mod dizzy cap and i wired it perfectly. It runs good and all but 15 seconds after i hit vtec for the first time to see if it made any difference. although i knew it wouldnt really help much, mabye louder in vtec or something but the check engine light came on. Since the light came on nothing has changed it still runs fine and dosent idle funny or run weird with the AC on. My engine is OBD2 so my guess is the ecu is thinking that i have a bad distributor because of the extra spark that the blaster coil is creating. Can anyone identify this problem or if this has happed to anyone it would be great to hear some feedback! THANKS IN ADVANCE!!! " i damn just need OBD1

yeah i went to autozone and i got the code. it was P0420. The PCM has determined that the catalyst system efficiency for bank 1 is below threshold for the current engine operating conditions. (Bank 1 identifies the location of cylinder #1, while bank 2 identifies the cylinders on the opposite bank). does anyone know what exactly i need to do in order to fix this problem. I cleared the CEL and it popped up 30 mins later. I also know that P0420 it like a tri trip sensor that has to happen 3 times in a row for the CEL to come on. Someone said that i need a new cat. The exhast system is a 5zigen and was on the car when i bought the car. i dont know how long the exhast has been on there but when the car idels and you put your head under the car near the doors you can hear this sputtering sound like theres a leak. I checked it and unless the crack or leak is on the top of the cat i cant see any damage besides some little scratches and rust. Any advice is appreciated!!!!!

Run the hell out of your car then go to a dark street and look under your car at your cat if it is glowing red it is bad!
