Window Help
In my 99 ek the window doesnt go all the way up it seem as if the motor cant put the window all hte way up anymore it makes a clak sound at the top. Does anyone know if a 96-98 motor would fit my 99 civic ex...?
As long as it's the same number of doors it will fit. I don't think thats what your problem is though. It sounds to me that the tracks are pinched at the tops.
ok at the top i open the door to look everything is fine it look like it that sprocket looking thing it just goes clak clak clak when its at the top.... i moved the tracks apart and tightened them
Roll the window down half way. Take out the two 10mm bolts in the window tabs. Pull the window out at an angle. Place it somewhere safe. Take the rest of the 10mm bolts that hold the regulator out.(4-6 bolts) Fold the regulator inside the door to make it easier for extraction. Take out regulator. Inspect it. You really need to take the tracks completely out to find any bends in the metal. Once you find something irregular, keep note for possible replacement. I've never replaced the tracks, I just bend them back. I do replace a lot of regulators at work though.
the regulator being the motor of the window...? has this happened before to you....? cause yea it does look like the motors ok cause it going all the way up intil i gets to top were the seal is it doesnt seal and it makes that noise... rain got in my car now it smeel funny :/

the regulator is the thing that the motor is bolted to. Usually the regulator and motor are replaced as one item. Yes a 96-98 will fit as long as it has the same number of doors. ex: a 4 door regulator will not fit a 2/3 door because they are different sizes. From 96-00 the doors are identical. Its still the same chasis.
my car does the same thing and there are no missing gears. it is very annoying. im guessing change your regulator to see if that helps cause i don't think it is teeth on the gear. im to lazy to fix mine for myself
