Well first I thought I had a bent valve, due to this "tik,tik,tik,tik,tik,tik,tik,tik" noise that accelerated as I accelerated... But when I sit at an idle an rev it up I dont hear it NEARLY as loud as I do while driving.. Well today on my way home from office this morning, I let off the gas in 4th while rollin up to a red light, doin about 80km <about 50mph> an I hear the typical downshift/semi backfire noise that usually happens but then all a sudden this big *** backfire "BLAMMMMMM, BAH BAH BABABA BAH BAH" came out of no where, an it did that in every gear I downshifted/coasted into... Subsequently, I just didnt downshift anymore an went from cruisin to braking.... Well my friends tell me that sometimes when at the track I throw a tad of white smoke which led me to believe ok "rings are going byebye"... Now this is my question....!! And yes it has been searched..!! Could piston rings, eventually turn so fried that they could warp a piston and make it actually knock an perform the noise im hearing..?? Also, mess up my timing or something with fuel bad enough to make this crazy *** backfire mess go down..?? Im just tryna find the culperate to my problem an havin a bitch of a time doin it.. I can get other single cam parts fairly easily an quite cheap so before I just decide to go n buy a new head or block, or B18C like I want, id rather just find out what the eff's wrong here.. Or at least get some solutions to try out... Thanks..

Well it's also usually around 10pm an halfway down a track, an half my friends blaze so I gave'm benefit of the doubt... Could have been blue smoke I presume cuz I do burn oil like a ****...

 

i got that clicking noise too but only when im in gear and accelerating. also you made me laugh when i read that post cause my car use to do that. but it was an exhaust leak and i was running real rich...bad combo!

yeah dude im goin through that same ****..!! i just got custom exhaust done like a week or 2 ago so im sure none of my welds have came off already.. I got it dont at a HIGHLY respected exhaust shop, but ill check into it.. Could be loost bolts or bad donut gasket where hi flow cat bolts onto header.. But as far as clickin noise, only in gear an only while accelerating.. Decelling i dont hear it, an sittin in neutral an revvin it up i dont hear it... But when i pop my hood an listed closely to head/block an pushin throttle cable, i can kinda hear a clackin around in my engine, just cant tell from where... have a friend up the block with a Z6 head for sale for 60 bucks, i might go buy that an slap it on just to see wtf it might do lol..
