Default dizzy part question, spring and charcoal piece

wondering if a z6 dizzy is supposed to have that charcoal piece in the dizzy, if i remmeber right on my obd0 dizzy it had it on the spring piece that is contacting the ignition coil.jw, and if it is supposed to be there, what is the purpose adn what would happen if its not there. i looked in the helms, and i think it showed it being there, but on mine its not, and mycar wont start, i have the spring, but no charcoal piece, went to the auto parts store and looked at their new caps and ign. coils and neither came with them, so im confused.

Yes, it should have a corbon tip on inside of cap. it completes the circuit from the coil to the rotor. It's purpose is to give a constant contact between the cap and the rotor while the rotor is spinning inside the cap. Without this, the vehicle may not start or run due to too much air gap between cap and rotor.

yea i see the spring with carbon tip in teh center of the cap (touches the center of the rotor) but the one im questioning is the one that touched the ign coil, i know a spring is supposed to be there, but what about a carbon piece? i have no carbon piece in mine.

No, there isn't any other carbon tips that I'm aware of in there. if the one in the center of the cap is there, that should be the only one. If it's not starting, you may have failed ignitor or coil.

Have you checked the ECM fuse in the underhood fuse box? If fuse is blown, ecm can not send ignition signal to distributor.

no codes i beleive, when i checked , the cel blinked once for like 2 seconds, seemed way to long to be code 10, but even tho code 10 is intake air temp. the cel would blink for like 2 seconds, then turn off for like 2 seconds, then repeat.

yes fuel pump primes, i can see fuel on the plugs also. whats weird is... when i disconnect the battery, sometimes also unplug the dizzy, then plug them back in, try to start, it will start up for maybe 2 seconds, then die (never tried to give it gas though). then after that it ill just crank forever. then usually if i wait a while then unplug them again and try, it will start momentarily then die, then no spark. not sure if its actually STARTINg but it seems like it.

yea checked compression a while back,it was good, timing is on, i finally got it started, figured out i have to hold down the gas and it will start, but it only stays on when the gas is down. the car hasnt been ran in id prob say..2 years or more. i know the dizzy is good, plugs r new, wires are new. after i had ran the car for maybe 30 seconds (pressing on gas) i took out the sparkplugs to look at them and i saw what seemed to be some mist coming outta one of the cylinders and out of the valve cover when the oil cap was removed. thsi is the first time its run in 2 years tho, and its hella hot out lately, so what could these symptoms be?
